what do i need to make my laptop have wireless internet service that i can use through out the USA

Well if ur already have a wireless network card dont need to do nothing but if dont have ...u must buy one(on PCMCIA or USB) . (And be sure the wireless network card have MIMO technlogy included ...this mean 800% more coverage )

If your computer is a newer model, it should have that capability built in already. If an older one, and if you have a place for a card that is about 2 1/2", then purchase a Netgear card and it will pick up wireless, no matter where you are in the US. That is, where ever you get free access.

Get a wireless PCI card.
Sign up with a provider of the PCI card. Make sure they serve the whole US. And also make sure that they provide locator software so you can find appropriate hotspots in your area. The easiest way is to go to the mall with your laptop and ask one of the many wireless providers about their cheapest deal.

There's a few ways to make your laptop wireless. First off is through a USB port. (Link shown below)

Now, for the actual internet you can get that at most any hotel, hotspot, coffee shop, library, etc.
If your looking to have it anywhere you may want to look into your cell phone service provider... Generally with a lot of their phones they can offer wireless internet through your phone.

for your laptop if its new there will be a internet card port at the side of the laptop thne you will need is
1 wireless router
with driver cd
to install the software/ router into the laptop
then
1 (isp)server
and your set up wireless internt
but when you do make sure you do this

people in the vicinity is on your network

GET THIS SET TO DISABLED

(GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING )
it dont matter what router you have you need to get
(GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING ) set to disable

is your router safe?
you need to call your (isp) server
they have to get you in to your router home page
then from there ..copy & paste the router home page
into a notepad then save that to a back up cd

now from there they have to take you to the part
where (GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING ) is
then you click on ( GAMES & APPLICATION SHARING) icon
then at the top on the right your see
configure.. you click on configure
then you .. untick the box
that is ticked there ...
then you click on
apply
and then ask there where you set up a wpa-security key dont use a 128bit wep key ask to use a wpa- security that is your router security key and you pick the wpa-security key not your (isp)server . just ask them where you set one up they will say use a wep-key ..ignore them you say your going to use a wpa.key and whant to know how to set one up and remember you pick the wpa-key not your (isp)server or they will use your network

now you close off the page
and clean out your internet address bar

check and see if your laptop is set up for this, if so you can get a card to insert that will make it operate kind of like a cell phone connection...it's pretty cool a friend has one...
