Henna tattoos are beautiful. I had a few done last year by a friends mom who is Indian (not native american). They last for about 1 to 2 weeks depending on how fresh the henna is and also how long you keep the paste on before picking it off. A good hint: After you have henna applied have someone dry it with a blowdryer on high heat. Yes you can sunbathe with a henna tattoo. It may help it last longer. I love henna tattoos because they aren't permanent.

Natural henna is completely safe. The dangerous black henna has chemicals called ppds. You can do a search ofr henna with ppds and read all about it. Also easyhenna.com has some stuff on ppd henna. NAtural henna is safe and easy to use. You can find all natural henna at shopbeachcombers.com
A henna tat will fade in direct sunlight or if you go into a pool, spa, lake, ocean, exfoliate your skin, use cleaning chemicals like dish soap, windex, etc. But a henna tat can last 2-3 weeks if kept clean and taken care of by avoiding the above.

I wouldn't get a henna tattoo because some of them have a very harmful ingredient in them.

Black henna is not natural no matter what anybody tells you. There is like a 1 in 5000 ( something like that) chance that you'll have a BAD illergic reaction where the ink will burn into your skin.

Hot Topic sells them, and sometimes places like Spencer will have them also. Unfortunately they are all the regular reddish brown henna, so if your skin has any red in it at all the tattoo won't show. I haven't ever found anywhere that sells the black ones like you'd get on the beach.
