your camera film will be well and truly f uck ed.
there will be a huge Sine wave going straight through it.
the x-rays are a lot more powerful than hand baggage.
a lead lined bag won't stop it.

even if its iso 50 it will be buggered.

rewind the film and take it through on hand baggage. there was once a BBC expedition film crews, photographer the whole shabang spent a month or so filming, the photographer put his UNDEVELOPED film in the hold and all 50 films were ruined.

you can develope the film and stick it in the hold and it will be fine though.

Go to your local camera shop and buy a aluminium film protection bag. This will prevent your film from becoming fogged, however, the authorities may open your suitcase to check what is in the foil.

Don't worry about your film, worry more about the baggage handlers and ask if you'll ever see the camera again.... I've had stuff far less valuable than a camera pinched... but that WAS at Bratislava, and the Slovaks are famous for it....

it could get damaged as the x-rays that they use to x-ray you're cases that go into the hold of the air craft are much stronger then the ones for hand baggage.

but hopefully it will be ok.

Well if your film is 800 speed or lower nothing. If it is faster and they x-ray it (which they will) your prints will have a blue/purple cast to them.
