There are 2 China town in Japan. One is in Yokohama, the other is in Kobe(This is called Nanking-cho though. People don't call as China town).
I have been to Yokohama China town many times. They speak both Japanese and Chinese fluently.
One day I found something. They are basically from Taiwan. Not from mainland China.
Why I noticed this? When I visit there, it was National Foundation Day. Both nations have this day in Oct.
Lots of restaurants were puting Chiang Kai-shek (past political leader of Taiwan) posters on their window. Mao Ze-dong (mainland China) was seldom.

I have been to Yokohama Chinatown. It's mainly a place to go eat now. It was originally settled by Chinese people as soon as China opened up, as the Western traders etc. who came up from Hong Kong brought their servants etc. with them.
The thing to do in Yokohama Chinatown is go eat late as there are a lot of small cheap restaurants that cater to the workers in the more expensive places. There is every type of Chinese food imaginable available there, and you can get a great meal at four.in the morning if you like. Chen Kenichi of "Iron Chef" fame has his main restaurant there.

because in Japan the perfect way of existence is to appreciate the community. contained in the U. S. we tend to be a lot extra comfortable about who is going to freshen up the trash contained in the line. that is not any longer purely Chinatown or different Chinatowns contained in the U. S. that is rather a lot everywhere. there's a triumphing body of ideas of "that is not any longer my fault" or "i did not do it, so why might want to I sparkling it up?" Even in my own community in la i hit upon it appalling that persons will purely promote off their trash into the line or on the floor with out any forethought about the position the trash will finally end up or who will be to blame for the trash eliminating. it is a good question. perhaps human beings will imagine about this some and take action.

China town is in Yokohama (train station is Kannai or Motomachi). Really good food - though different from the US. They also sell great tea there. It actually makes a great day trip - as right near the Yamanote Park and Motomachi.

I've been to Yokohama China town. I love to go there just walking around to see the Chinese culture.
big famous restaurants are good(only special occasion for me! expensive!). but there are also many little restaurants(not main street) and cheaper. My favorite is get BUTA-MAN and walk around. especially discovering back street shops. i love to find cute accessories and purses for good price.
I also went there 1st week of February. Chinese new year festival week. It was sooo bright! and felt i was not in Japan! haha...

Yes, we've been there...! There are some really great as-much-as-you-can-eat restaurants...! Anything from 1,500円 upwards, and you can really stuff your face with the delicious food...!!

I dare-say there ARE prostitutes there, but I've never noticed anything 'untoward'! It certainly doesn't seem to be a sleazy area, as someone suggested...!
