Hmm, again with this mystery car info. Would be nice if you told us what it was and such? Like engine? Year? Make and model? Hello?? Dr Z here too?

Rip it out. Go to a store and say: "Get me a new one."
Put it in.

Can not be more specific as you are not.

locate pump.removepump.buy new pump.install new pump.
