Yeah, you do. They have camaras at toll stations. They get your license plate number as you go by, so they have identified you. They have all your information too, so its time to admit defeat on this one! You dont want them to take further legal steps against you...
When you pay your fine (suck it up and do it man!) you could try writing a letter and explaining your situation. I used to live in New York and got a speeding ticket once. I wrote a 'I'm a poor college student, I'm very sorry, I know I was wrong" letter, and they reduced the fine I had to pay. I dont know if it works the same with the toll booths, but its worth a try.

If the police officer didn't tell you, he should have. New York and Ohio are compact states. Meaning if you get a ticket in one and are licensed in the other, you better pay the ticket or you'll lose your license. I got a ticket in Ohio about 20 years ago. You better believe I paid it. Yes, pay the ticket. You broke the law. And you don't want to risk losing your license. Ohio will yank it for nonpayment of the ticket.

Yes, if you wish to keep driving. I returned to this country a few years ago, and when I went to apply for a driver's license, I was refused. Why? Because a ticket I got in Arizona when I was 17 and first licensed was never paid. After 9/11 ALL States' computers are linked, and so your ticket in NY will definitely show up in Ohio when you go to renew your license. If it's not paid, they will not renew your license.
Incidentally, the DMV in my case wanted $9,000 for the original ticket plus accrued interest. I had to go through quite a few gyrations to show that the ticket wasn't even mine -- it was my sister's.

I think you should pay it. If you ran a toll booth, you do owe them the money.
Some states also have agreement with other ones, though I don't know if NY -> OH is one. They can put a mark on your license preventing you from renewing it. This happened to me wiht a parking ticket in Delaware (I never saw the ticket), and nobody told me until I tried to renew my MD license. It was suspended!!!

What state are you in? You may get fined if they took a picture of your license plate. Once you get the fine call of tell them & usually they will make you pay the 25¢ if this is your first offense.

The state sends notice to your state and your insurance carrier too.
Pay the fine - it's less trouble.
