we all know that the film the sound of music was a true story so what i want to know is did rolf the messenger boy survive the war he would have been about 18 years old at the outbrake of war and i would like to know what happerned to him

I don't think he was an actual person.
I think he was added to the story as a sub-plot just to make it more interesting to watch.
There was rather a lot of artistic licence involved in the making of the film.

Rolf could've been 17 still, as he was singing in the song. Do a google search on him. Google the whole entire Sound of Music. But, even if it was based on a true event, the names could've been changed...they do that kinda thing for copyright reasons....

I read the book long ago, but I don't remember Rolf being in it. It could be that I just don't remember, but it's an intriguing question.
I hope someone comes up with the answer for you, it would be interesting to know.

good question considering the movie ended when the von trapps crossed the mountain, and i think, if memory serves me correctly, about 6 yers ago, there were 2 of the von trapps stil alive. i wouldnt even know how to google that one.
