last night i was trying to give my boyfriend a piggy back ride and i lost balance and fell forward and tried to stop my fall with my hand. though my hand gave out and i think i hit my ellbow on the concrete. it stopped hurting after a few minutes and now it hurts to move it in certain ways..what could be wrong with my ellbow and should i get it looked at?

you sprained it. i did that to my wrist. it will hurt for about two weeks.

I think its obvious that a blow to any bone or joint can cause pain. There may be some swelling or you may have bruised the bone. There is also a possibility that you could have fractured the area. Try an icepack on the area for 20 mins on 20 mins off tomorrow..rotate ice pack and heat. Also try ibuprofen *ADVIL* for pain and to help with swelling. You may want to also elevate your arm on pillows and just chill out for a while. If this doesn't clear up in the next day or two, get to a doctor for an x-ray.

Rapid treatment for muskuloskeletal injuries includes:
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
If your elbow still hurts in a week -- or swells a huge amount, go see the doctor -- otherwise, you're probably fine.
The bone in the top of the arm is called the humerous -- when you fall and smack your elbow, you jab the humerous -- it isn't very funny -- it hurts . . . a bunch.

Could simply be bruised or it could be dislocated. If the pain is severe, definitely get it checked.
If the pain is minor, apply ice to control and swelling then heat to induce blood flow for healing.

If it doesn't start to feel better soon go see someone. It's possible that you just strained it or bruised it, and that will take a few days to feel better. Like I said, go see someone if it isn't better soon.

Get to the doctors, get it x-rayed. You might have chipped a bone or broken something. We aren't doctors here.
