Your Rx is within the limits of being corrected by having surgery but there are other factors to take into account. Your cornea has to be thick enough to have the surgery and you want your Rx to be stable for a few years before you have the surgery (usually into your 20's) otherwise you would need glasses again in a few years. A common side effect after having surgery is having dry eyes so if you already are a dry eye sufferer it would probably not be recommended. Also, many people often see halos around lights at night after having surgery. And, don't forget that around the age of 40 you are going to need glasses again to see up close - with your Rx now you could probably make it into your mid 40's or 50's before needing reading glasses. Just remember, like with any surgery nothing is guaranteed and there are always risks for complications.
With that being said - having eye surgery is one of the safest and lowest complications surgery there is. Many patients love the outcome and the freedom of being able to see without their glasses or contact lenses.
