Ok, a couple of questions first-do you pick, if you do, stop immediately. This will lead to scarring and what you are dealing with now, acne staining!
Choose a product that contains kojic acid (it is from the japanese word for mushrooms, if you are allergic to mushrooms, obviously, do not use) and glycolic or lactic acid.
This going to help exfoliate the area where the spot is and allow the product to permiate (enter) the skin better.
Please remember to use sunscreen everyday, yes, even in the winter and on a rainy day, any day that the sun has risen, whether you can see it or not, is a day that potentially harm your skin.
If you tend to be acneic, you can use a sunscreen that is water based a 15 is fine. I find that sunscreens that are higher in number contain more oils/lipids which may be a bit much for acneic skin.
Glymed has a sunscreen gel that is water based, 15 and does not sting or irritate the skin. It smells nice, but not too sun-screeny. It is also very calming for the skin.
It is called Photo Age Environmental Protection Gel 15.

Yeah you definitely have some scarring going on, which sucks. There are lotions out there for blemish and scar removals. For example, this website:
http://skincarerx.com/acne-scarring.html
talks about acne scarring and a treatment lotion. But you might also want to go to the drug store and look at what they have on the counter. It would be in the section where they sell body lotions, face creams, and facial cleanser. I'm pretty sure I saw some in the store before.
If you're going to get a cream though, you should make sure its gentle enough and its not oily which might make you break out more!
Plus, if you have spots because you are picking at the pimples, squeezing, scratching or digging you've got to stop! We do alot of things by habit so you'll have to try to become more aware of your behavior and when you catch yourself poking at a pimple to make yourself stop!

Scars. I barely get pimples but when I do I mess with them. Don't pick at the or pop your pimples. I learned that the hard way. It spreads the bacteria.

Wow. I used to have that problem too but I know what helps, ask your doctor for a prescription for Hydroquinone ...I think its like extra stregnth. Your doctor might say to go to a dermotologist but changes are he/she will say the same thing.
Anyways it worked for me =) But It takes about a month or two to see results but it's worth it
Glad I Could Help .. =)
p.s. If you do end up taking this medication you should not exessivly be in sunlight.
