blown crystal (I think it is the best of all crystals) often have a tiny little bubble inside some where = handmade with tiny mistakes. You need to look thoroughly to find it. Crystal is brighter in color and they NEVER have a seam like a cheaper version of a bowl. I brought a beautiful crystal ashtray from Germany on an airplane over and it showed the led in the custom's x-ray machine (= big hassle. I had to show it off everywhere). The test with the sounds works, too, but it is not quite as accurate. In case you ever break a crystal item, they never break as smooth in big pieces, they always splinter.

Crystal is generally heavier in weight than glass, and it is brighter and clearer in appearance. Crystals are normally sold with cut patterns. This is to bring out the index of refraction, as the cut patterns has the ability to disperse light into the colour of the components of the visible spectrum with almost diamond like brilliance.

I believe that if you flick the ring it will ring like a bell if its Crystal, and merely clink if its glass, also if you hold it up to the light, with Crystal, the lead makes wonderful rainbow colours, you will not see in glass.

If you are talking about dishes or glasses, then you can wet the rim of the glass and rub your finger around the rim. If it makes a ringing sound, it is crystal. If there is no ringing sound it is just glass.

Crystal is heavier and it makes a musical sound when lightly hit with a fingernail or spoon.

crystal is glass, but it was purified by increasing lead content.all its properties were optimized, became heavy and sounds at a rub or a hit ,very tranparent (if not colored) and....expensive....you have to look at all these
properties to tell.
