You could be booked under current laws for Dangerous Driving, however there is no minimum limit per se, more just what is deemed as unsafe.
As for a minimum limit being introduced I think it would be good idea, however it would need to take into account things like road conditions and weather and such.
In America they have minimum speed limits on some freeways, and I believe they work.
I think limits in general should be revised, for example limits going 20-30mph higher after midnight until 5am, and even having all traffic lights flashing amber for 1am allowing for "proceed with caution", there is nothing worse than being stuck at a traffic light at 3am with nothing happening in the other directions.
As mentioned above the whole traffic laws need revising

I totally agree. 70 is the limit on motorways and this should be the minimum speed. There are too many older drivers who go far too slow (40-50) who annoy the hell out of other drivers and end up causing accidents. The outside lane should have a higher limit as well - the 70mph enforcers are far too dangerous! Cars are safer now so the speed limit should be put up. I also think that tractors shouldn't be allowed on dual carriageways at peak times but that's going off the point now!

Well, it finally happened ,here! Florida State Highway Patrol now enforces the true speed limit, that if you are holding up folks in the FAST lane, even if they are 15 mph OVER the top speed, YOU will get the ticket!!!
Too many pile-ups caused by "enforcers"!!! Seems some slam on the brakes! Fortunately, they only get to do that one time... but, there are so many more stupid idiots getting ont hte roads each day!
We might NEVER run out of stupid idiots!

i agree, i also think the speed limit should be done on the amount of traffic on the road, and the time of day too, ie
motorways when there is very little traffic, the speed limit, on the outer lanes should be raised, as long as the road conditions allow it of course
and the 20 limits outside of schools should only be that speed limit when the schools are in, between say 7am, to 5 pm, other times should be 30

Keeping to the left is what is needed, the speed is irrelevant.
Two lorries overtaking = 3 lanes become a single road.
LEFT LEFT LEFT.
Big fines and points for not moving over will educates the w@nkers who cannot drive.
Lorries should only be able to use the inside lane at peak times.
MIDDLE LANE HOGGERS SHOULD BE EXECUTED AS EXAMPLES TO OTHER MORONS.

R drivers are allowed on and they can only go 45mph if a cars going slow just over take it .
At least on motorway you can overtake it rather being stuck on a single lane and have to toddle along at 30 or 20 (bloomin tractors)

Doesnt it already exist in a way as there are no mopeds and 50cc scooters allowed on the motorways.
We could go to the Autoban system (no limits) but that might not suite the British psyche

I think you should have to have passed your test for a year and take a second test before being allowed on the motorway. Its just not the same as the school run and pottering up to the supermarket.

too right , i agree , and also think that an 80mph speed limit is needed also as most cars these days can stop in half the distance in the highway code , a 60mph minimum limit should be about right , but most people do 90 mph + anyway
