Do you think maybe if we sent presents instead of bombs to the middle east they would like us enough to stop?

Like us enough to stop terrorizing the west? Maybe we could send them some food and medicne and nike shoes and some cows and stuff with the money we spend on bombs. Maybe they would like us and stop calling us names and stuff and leave our airplanes alone and be our friends. What do you think?

This is a very naive question. They people are a war faring people that recognize no way of life for humanity except their own, even to the point of taking away a person’s free agency which is not the way of the Lord. Unless we surrender to their religion and system of thinking they will never leave us alone and in view of the fact that we will never do that there can be no harmony between us.

honestly, I don't think they'll work!
I'm from the middle east and I know that some people's minds are so corrupted to the point where they see no good.. They are recruited since they could walk to do something that is wrong! but if the bombs stopped even if they are not replaced by anything maybe that will help.
( I'm not talking about helping war victims.. We should always help those :D )

The US has been putting sanctions on these people for years, attacking them, supporting Israel when it attacks them, randomly bombing civilian targets.

The best way to not have people hate you...is to stop killing them and starving them! If the goal was just to despose SH, why didn't we do that, then set up the infrastructure there complete with an economy (industry, business {theirs, not our businesses}, hospitals, rebuilding streets and buildings, and ELECTRICITY AND WATER for heaven's sake!), instead of telling everyone that we are doing that, then giving the money away to Bush and Cheney's corporate buddies to sit on their laurels and not do anything!

Anyone that truly believes that the people in the middle east hate us for our freedoms is a complete and total MORON! Every democracy that has formed in the middle east, we have fought against. Lebanon becase a democracy a year ago, and has caused most of what's left of the Hezbollah militia to lay down their arms. There are a few left, but they have done great work in getting rid of most of them. So we encourage Israel to attack them. After being formed by Britain in the 40's, and after they overthrew British occupation, Iraq had formed a democracy. We paid Saddam Hussein to overthrow that democracy, then put him in power for 35 years, selling him the WMD he used on the Kurds. Iran was a democracy before we put the Mullahs in charge. Haiti was a democracy, then we overthrew the popularly elected president, installing someone (that we had funded to run against the elected president...and also attended The School of the Americas...an organization that trains people in guerilla combat and torture techniques) that has intalled a military dictatorship. We tried to do the same to popularly elected President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, but he got it on video, so we dropped it.

While all of this is and was going on, we support Saudi Arabia (Islamic Monarchy), The UAE (Islamic Monarchy), the Sudan (Islamic Dictatorship know for killing over 1 million of their own people over the past 10 years or so), were supporting Saddam Hussein, created Al'Quaida and the Taliban (to fight the Soviet Union during the Cold War) and generally stamped out freedom, democracy, and peace everywhere we could.

Perhaps there would be peace if we supported people, and democracy, and help these countries get started, there could be peace!

Imagine this...would you like someone more that was giving you money and opportunity and true freedom, or someone that killed your family?

These people hate all westerners. We can not bribe, buy, borrow or steal them. They will continue on. If we would have got bin laden in the Clinton years it may not have gone this far. We people that live in the western world will just have to put up with the new world order that is coming down. Wish it would be this easy, people would be out shopping now, but it is not.

Sweets and candies, friendship and goodwill, respect and equality, and peace and prosperity will only get these Muslims to focus on rebuilding themselves and develop economically and prosper and compete with our corporate empire. That could only invite competition for us and is not good for "total unquestioned dominance". Becuase you know what follows economic prosperity: These counties will start defending themselve and build their own armies and challenging our control of thier lives.
