Bhutan has the highest GNH (Gross National Happiness).
This isn't a joke. There have actually been scientific studies that measure how happy the populace of a country is, and Bhutan always comes out on top, even though it is an extremely poor country (in the Himalayas).
But I think that makes sense - poor people are often happier than rich people. Rich people in America and the West think they have so many problems, when poor people in developing countries really have far worse problems, but those poor people still know how to love life and appreciate what they've got.

Ive never been there, but I've read that Bhutan is, and I'm an American citizen. They have a policy called "Gross National Happiness" as opposed to other countries' "Gross National Product". No kiddin'.
I also saw a piece about it on CBS "60 Minutes".
