My ex was a recovering alcoholic & he refered to marijuana as a "bubblegum drug."
I went to a lot of Alanon & open AA meetings & have met people whose life was messed up by alcohol, cocaine, legal drugs & all other sorts of stuff, but I've never met someone whose life was ruined by pot. I've met quite a few people decided to stop using pot because they felt it was having a negative effect on their lives, but nothing to the degree of other stuff. It is not physically addictive, for one thing.
Poutypitbull - No one should drive while stoned! Even if it's not as dangerous as driving drunk, it is still dangerous. Don't do it!

If you're talking about the immediate effects, alcohol. Have you ever seen a stoner pick a fight? :) However, the long-term dangers of marijuana seem to be worse. Being illegal, there is always the threat of being caught and having this mark on your record. Additionally, more and more companies are conducting drug screens which will pick up THC from at LEAST 30 days back. Depends on how you wish to live your life, I suppose.

Alcohol. When people smoke pot, they mello out, they don't fight, they drive more cautiously... (they as in me!)
You know the saying "Instant asshole, just add alcohol." Well that is true. All of my friends are the nicest guys sober but get a little J.D into them and all they want to do is fight and be idiots. I personally don't drink very much at all and I really don't like hangovers. Alcohol should be banned not pot.

I hate to admit it because I don't toke, but i do drink. But there's no doubt, alcohol causes more problems than dope does. I never had to take somebody's key b/c I was worried about them getting stoned and killing some one on the way home. You never hear of somebody in rehab to get off marijuana. It should be de-criminalized and taxed.

neither are considered to be health foods..... alcohol is thought to increase your risk stomach and digestive tract cancers as well as liver and kidney diseases....... Weed will just screw up your lungs...... both are proven to damage brain cells, and impair your ability to make rational decisions and operate machinery which in itself is a danger. Excessive use of either will make you lazy, unreliable and depressed. Extreme use will make you sit around the house doing nothing but typing unintelligible questions and answers on Yahoo. What a waste .... I'm so ashamed

They both can be equally dangerous when used improperly and they can both be safe when used in an appropriate manner. Using to much of ether of them can cause problems as well as using them at inappropriate times e.g. at work, school, driving, etc

Alcohol hands down.
Booze gets me in trouble and I have little fear.
Pot on the other hand makes me paranoid and think to much.

Both can be dangerous if used in a way that puts the user or others in harms way. The best solution is to "just say no'.
