Canadians will always dominate hockey because we are the only country in the world that have it as a national pastime and sport. Just like the U.S. with baseball, football and basketball and China in ping pong and everywhere else in soccer and well..............you know what I mean.

I, as a Canadian, could give a crap what nationality makes the most impact but all I have to say to you is...Brian Lawton. Being drafted #1 is no guarantee of greatness.
American business have taken over the pro game since the NHL started. You guys have the population and economic base and we thank you for making many players millionaires.
Now, get real. As far as on the ice, the USA is going to have to win more than the 1996 World Cup to consider its national team as a dominant force over Canada, the Czechs or Sweden.

An American went first but 11 Canadians were taken over all, only 10 Americans. (I'm American) I don't think we will ever totally take over the sport but I don't think the Canadians will always dominate. They are so busy looking over their shoulders at us that they haven't noticed the Europeans are starting to take over. The Europeans may not be going high in the draft but there are a lot of Europeans dominating in the NHL.

If anything, it is the players from Europe who are taking over the NHL.
About 53% of the league is Canadian. About 30% of the players in the league are from somewhere in Europe. About 13% of the players in the league are American. The remaining 4% are from various other places, including Asia, Africa and South America.

Not at all. Canadians are still the best players in the world. Carolina Hurricanes may have won the Stanley Cup but look at the line up. They're all Canadians. It's a Canadian sports and will always be dominated by Canadians.

a joke no ooh an american went first overall, a rarity that has not happened a lot, more canadians are always drafted, no canadians will continue to dominate in hockey, it is just the way life is. don't think america will take over anytime soon. or anytime for that matter.
