AT&T now has what they refer to as "dry loop" service, which is for people who use other telephone companies or other services. You must have a physical phone line, of course, but you no longer need to have land-line service through AT&T.

As long as the physical telephone line exists, you don't have to have telephone service at all. When you get the DSL (AT&T no longer calls it DSL, it's now "High Speed Internet"), you will be assigned a virtual telephone number, i.e., a number like a phone number but just for the DSL.

Cable and DSL are two different thing. Vonage is a cable ISP which is phone line/dsl and cable is using different technology which is CABLE.

If att is your phone service, and you want to cut it. go ahead, change to cable. two separate thing. However, if you go from one dsl to another dsl. You need at least a phone line. Some dsl companies do not require you to have phone line with them. But some do.

It depends on the area if you need to buy telephone service from at&t but usualy yes unless you go through a third party reseller.

I would check with the cable company to see if thier broadband is available AND WORKS with VoIP telephone services. Trying to get everything from one provider might save you money.

Also, watch out for leader deals such as DSL for $15 a month and then they hit you.

Call all your providers and check out www.dslreports.com for furthur information.

Well its tottaly depends upon your self but you have to check with Vonage that they provided this kind of services . You dont have to be with AT&T but if you like it & you think that the service of AT&T is good then you can but again you have to check with Vonage that is ok with them as well.
