I don't park on a driveway. I drive on a driveway, and park in the garage, like civilized folk.

this is a good questions and often brought up by non native speakers of english. my idea is that it is jsut the english language way of saying it can confuse anyone and everyone

Also why if we send something by ship it is called cargo and if you send it by car it is called a shipment
