Read this article. It seems that alot of the problems are in the way the product is being used and how long the consumers are wearing the lens.
I worked for a eye doctor and the biggest problem which occured was people sleeping in contact that weren't supposed to be slept in or sleeping in the one that were too long. Contacts which are supposed to be removed daily do no allow air to breath and contacts that are worn to long gather bacteria causing eye infections.
