I have had my 330i for nine months now and the car has actually been enjoyable to ride. I do have one lingering question even though I have had my car checked twice for any problems and the car had a good bill of health. Is it normal to hear the car downshifting a little louder than usual when slowing down to a stop going 25 to 0?, sounds like a thump sound- like the car is actually adjusting to the torque- the car runs smooth- no other sounds- Im thinking maybe its the differential or a tranny issue- i have no idea- please help Im loosing my mind- or is this normal?

It most likely is a transmission mount that is starting to wear, vrack, or break. As it is a rubber insulator between the transmission and the frame it is attached to. Hope that is helpful.

The drive shaft coupler wearing out after 4 or 5 years sounds premature.

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

Sounds like the drive shaft coupler. BMW uses a rubber disc that wears out over time. But if you took it to good BMW shop they should have found that. If you do not already have one find a BMW shop in your area and ask them. It may be normal in that car.

Get a BMW dealer to reprogram the gearbox control unit, its a known fault. It affects ZF transmissions, Pay no more than half an hour to a hour labor. Its like you come to a stop, and then you feel like if someone has just hit you from behind very lightly.
