The Moon orbits around the Earth with a period of about 29 days. This means that sometimes it is on one side during the day and sometimes at night.
Imagine a line drawn from the Earth to the Sun and another from the Earth to the Moon. If the two lines are exactly overlapping, the part of the Moon that is lit by the Sun will be facing away from the Earth, and we won't be able to see it at all. As long as those two lines don't line up, we will be able to see some parts of the Moon.
Edited to add: Arch_Teryx is wrong, by the way. The Moon always is reflecting light from the Sun. Reflected light from the Earth is not nearly bright enough to illuminate the Moon so that the light could shine back to Earth.

Gosh there's some garbage answers. be careful what you take in. Why do people make up answers when they don't really know.
The moon is mainly and almost soley illuminated by the sun, and to such an extent that it is visible in daylight.
Also, the planet Venus when at its brightest is visible in daylight, but only just, so you have to know exactly where to look.
A small pair of binoculars will reveal Jupiter in daylight - again, you have to know where to look.
These objects are illuminated by the sun - the sun, the sun.
There are occasions when Earthlight (which is sunlight reflected off the Earth) can be seen on the moon. It is when the moon is almost new and is a very thin fingernail. If you go to a very dark place to view it, you can see the dark part of the moon lit up with a dim ghostly light. This is all the light that Earth can impart to the moon, and would never, never be visible in daylight.

The moon isn't there in the day. The sun emits huge amounts of gases which drive the moon right out of orbit. The only reason the moon even returns is coz the sun finally sets. After the sun sets, the moon gets bigger and brighter and can pretty much relax all night untill the sun rises again and starts emitting solar flares again. ehemmm.
I might not have just EVERY detail right, but it's close I'm sure.

The moon orbits the earth every 28 days, basically 14 during the day and 14 during the night.
The reason that the moon changes from full to new ( no moon ) is because the earth casts a shadow on it as the moon orbits the earth.
As the moon orbits the earth the earth gets between the moon and sun and this casts a shadow on the moon causing the phases of the moon.

The moon rises at different times during the month. What time it rises depends on the phase (how much is showing) of the moon.
Next time there is a full moon, watch at sundown, and you'll see that the full moon rises at the same time the sun sets. When the moon is half-full, it rises halfway through the day.
There are a lot of good websites that will explain why this is so much better than I can; browse around and you'll find them!

Um, I don't see a reason why you can't. The Moon orbits the Earth so they can be seen at the same time. And the Moon reflects enough light and is close enough so that it is able to be seen during the day.

At night the moon is illuminated by the sun, the light energy that hit the moon from the sun is reflected off the moon and makes it visible. The reason the moon is visible during the day is due to light being reflected off of the earth and subsequently sent back to earth. Cresent moons etc. are caused by the earth impeding the path of light from the sun.
