the reason i stated there was no blood is that it did go though the leg but like with a light saber the heat of the weapon stoped any bleed by cloting it stright away the only bleeding would be from being moved like she will be in a page or two

demon back handedly slapped Von-Beck with enough force to knock him off his feet the demon then stepped backwards and with both hands removed the word from his face with a cry of pain that almost went past Von-Beck’s hearing he then ran from the room, Von-Beck forced himself to his knees slowly raising himself by the arms blood dripping from his mouth he spat and a tooth came out with the bitter tasting blood he glanced around the room the see Katharyn laying on her side about 20 feet away he could see her chest raising and falling as he watched so at least she was alive he raised him self a little more onto his feet and as his weight came on his ankle lighting like pain flashed though his body making him curse aloud he looked down at his suddenly suddenly club footed limb he could not tell though the tight fitting calf length boots but he thought that it must be broken judging by the almost unbearable pain but he did not have time for that now he forced him self over to Katharyn

and rolled her by the shoulder so that he could see her more easily she was largely unharmed apart from the wound at her calf he inspected it closer it was worse than he had hoped it went clear though the bone and the to the other side of her leg but it was hardly bleeding at all it appeared that it had coagulteed at the point of inflitetion he took a strip of cloth from his shirt and tied it tightly around the wound and he did this Katharyn came to
”Beck” she said quietly “what happened?”
Von-Beck stoke her brow gently it was cold and clammy and she was breathing quickly and deeply she was going into shock he tried to reinsure her and said quietly to her it’s okay it’s gone now we have to get out of here”
He noticed the Katharyn had started to shake he covered her in his coat but there was little more he could do he knew that he should not move her but he could not see any other choice

There are all sorts of shock. You are thinking of hypoxia (lack of oxygen) which wouldn't happen as a general rule if there was no bleeding - you haven't mentioned internal bleeding though.... that is a possibility for hypoxic shock.

It would also be possible to go into shock from the sight of the wound (imagine how you feel when you see something yuck) or from the pain - although I'm told that at first there is very little pain.....

Otherwise there is toxic shock, septic shock and other types of shock which are more rare.

Good luck with the book!

There are different types of shock. Heavy blood loss can cause shock but this wouldn't work for your book. Poisoning of the blood due to a bacteria of some sort would cause septic shock. And then there is the psychological shock which can easily get someone to black out... I know someone who had a heavy car crash and can't remember anything about it, according to a professional therapist, not because she's suppressing the bad memories but because her brain went into shock and just "forgot" to register the information.
Hope this helps!

A char is a Synge or burn. A chair is something a person uses to set on. So neither would bleed or go into shock. Your question did make my light come on, I was starting to tell you all about shock from my training. In First Aid and CPR. I find this funny and masterfully written. I just wonder how many others will catch this point.

hmmm. I'm a paramedic. You're right in thinking that blood loss results in shock. But how can you injure the leg all the way through and not hit ANY arteries? After a time the wound will become infected - there is bacteria in the air, living on our skin, and fed by dead tissue cells. The infection will eventually cause septic shock and your character will die anyway.

A person can go into shock without an injury.
Shock is mainly caused by a mental situation, it just so happens a physical problems including injuries can trigure this.

It is the brain shutting down the bodies systems to protect it's self.

Why do you think a person can go into shock when actually there is not bleeding. There is no point going into shock.
Unless the shock is neurogenic shock, which means due to fear he went into shock.

Yes, quite easily. You could be a witness to the accident and still go into shock. Bye the way, what's a char??..oh duh, character, sorry I'll wake up in a minute lol
