Stalin is believed to be responsible for 20 million deaths, via the starvation produced by forced industrialization programs, compulsory migration schemes that left people to fend for themselves on unarable land, and outright murder by the secret police.

Stalin so desperately wanted to believe that Hitler wouldn't turn on the USSR that he had two brave soldiers who returned from enemy lines with news of an imminent invasion shot. The Soviet Union was utterly unprepared for the ensuing invasion, and untold numbers of Soviet citizens lost their lives unnecessarily.

Stalin created a society of terror in which citizens could not say or do anything that even hinted at discordance with the official line, lest they be informed upon by colleagues and even family members. Making things more difficult, this official line was known to constantly change.

The fact that Stalin's reign saw the USSR emerge as an industrial power does little to outweigh his colossal outrages against humanity and even his sheer incompetence. He is perhaps rivalled only by Hitler as the worst leader of all time.

Stalin was worse than Hitler. He was responsible for the deaths of millions of his own before WWII.His paranoic purges of his top military generals led to disaster when the Germans invaded and he would have been toppled if not for Hitlers misgudgement. A German invasion two months earlier would have resulted in total defeat for the USSR. Even Vladimir Lenin realized his mistake and tried desperately to prevent Stalin from succeeding him.Stalin is a stain on Russian history that will never be erased.

Well if you think Hitler was bad, Stalin was even much worse. It is estimated he killed somewhere 60 million++ people during his dictatorship however, history does not write him up like they do Hitler. It seems this planet never wants for murderous dictators. Why would ANYONE be happy with a killer like that?

He was good in a way; he turned his back on hitler, but bad as well, he dictated his cuntry, USSR or Russia. But was the only dictator on the Allied powers which inclued Britian, USSR, America, and maybe France but Hitler took them over in about 6 weeks no joke

Bad isn't enough - he was terrible.
Before WW2 he terrorised the country with his network of secret police and killed and imprisoned millions of people including many of the top army officers so that the forces were badly prepared when Hitler invaded.
After WW2 he oppressed the nations of eastern Europe and was responsible for many deaths there.

In the pantheon of evil, Stalin may well be the most evil man in history.
