its about him and his girlfriend (or wife or whatever) fighting all the time, things keep going wrong, and as much as he wants to leave he cant...he doesnt know why (hince the i cant tell you why) but he just cant leave her, so he says to hold on tight and they'll get through it.
no! he is not LEAVING her, he wants to, but he cant.

it sounds like a "its not you its me" breakup and if you actually listen to the words of most rock love songs it doesnt sound like love like U2's "with or without you"

Yes it is a love song in paradox...he sings of his love and feelings for his love yet isn't able to understand how to communicate those feelings. He doesn't understand so hes not able to communicate that which he doesn't understand. The fact that he isn't able to walk away and keeps coming back for his love even through the turmoil that they are going through is love without understanding.

The relationship is over and he is tired of arguing and fighting and wants to move on. Telling her (I can`t tell you why )this is happening!! But need to move on!!
