I'd LOVE to see ANY of our politicians try living on that amount!!
Especially without all the freebies they get from lobbyists!

I live in New Jersey, which consistently ranks in the top three for cost of living, and to support myself and my son in a safe neighborhood with decent schools, I would need to make at least $60,000.00 per year.

According to the USG, making minimum wage with a family of four would be considered poverty level. I would suggest that anyone making minimum wage is at or below poverty level....in the United States, anyway.

That is going to depend on where you live. Even within the same country, and even within the same state, the figures can be very different. You could live like a king in some caribbean countries for $30,000 a year. Try to do that in NYC, and it's a different story.

Doesn't that all depend on the country in which the person resides and the value of the local currency?
