High SAT scores help in getting in the door. After that, it's up to the individual to make something of the opportunity and do something with the education.

Under a communist system, they're probably flagged for certain education and career paths and have little or no say in the future.

Under a capitalist system, it's up to the individual to chart their own course. Certainly they may attract accolades, scolarships and mentors due to their scores but they are free to do as they wish.

Where are they? Everywhere! From the university lecture halls to the corporate board rooms to skid row. One of the most intelligent men I've ever met is a simple back-water carpenter in rural Oklahoma. Although he is only a high school graduate, the instant he opens his mouth you know that there is some SERIOUS brain capacity behind it. He's quite happy hanging drywall and building decks or framing a house and would never consider doing anything else. The quality of his work is exceptional and he makes a fortune doing it. THAT is a happy man!

I have written extensively on this subject, and even have a website devoted to it (see below).

The short answer is that these tests are USELESS. They are meant only to predict first year grades in college, and they do so VERY POORLY (r-squared < .2) It turns out that if you already have previous grades, adding the scores to the grades results in almost NO IMPROVEMENT in predicting first year grades.

Ever wonder if the tests predict acual accomlishment in life? Well, that has been studies many times. Here are the results. Harvard psychologist David McLelland writes:

"Thorndike and Hagen (1959), for instance, obtained 12,000 correlations between aptitude test scores and various measures of later occupational success on over 10,000 respondents and concluded that the number of significant correlations did not exceed what would be expected by chance. In other words, the tests were invalid... Holland and Richards (1965) and Elton and Shevel (1969) have shown that no consistent relationships exist between scholastic aptitude test scores in college students and their actual accomplishments in social leadership, the arts, science, music, writing, and speech and drama."

There is even evidence that these tests are biased against students with deep minds. Yes, the tests penalize deep thinking and reward superfical cleverness. See my website for the full story. I also printed a critique of my site by someone who works in the testing industry.

They are certainly in our government! They fill staff positions, as appointees! Condolina Rice is a Genius! Appointed! Refuses to run for office! I think that her genius is correct, there!

The people you should really be angry with are the 'normal' ones, who get elected to Congress, based upon promises they likely will never fulfill, pork they promise the voters, and, the many votes they can steal, or, buy!

Remember. The HOUSE proposes, the Senate ratifies, the President VETOs.

The American system is the worst form of 'Democratic Republic', but, the best government in the world!

I have scored 99th percentile on every standardized test i have taken and never noticed anything coming from it. They have not tried to ship me off for special testing. I even took a real IQ test at a shrink one time when my parents were wondering why i had bad grades. They would not believe my bad grades were because i was lazy. I had A's on every test and quiz but you you average those with a 0 on every homework assignment and report you end up with like a D. I scored off the chart on that thing. It was great fun i got timed putting stuff together and taking it apart blind folded, and a bunch of boring stuff. They have never tried to ship me off to any think tank or "special testing" place though. I think that is just Hollywood crap.

If you go to certain people to take an IQ test you can use it to get into MENSA but you have to pay money and they only have meetings in certain cities and what not. Seem like a lot of trouble to hang out with people who are so proud of being smart.

That would seem like a lot of trouble to go to for people with potential. I mean why do they care about the lazy smart people. They higher the one who acutely go through college and get honers degrees for think tanks and what not.

Most of these highly intelligent people are probably at normal jobs doing what ever carrier they chose wondering why there co-workers are so dumb.

Most of the intelligent people are smart enough to NOT get involved in politics. Instead they become scientists, teachers, you know...people that actually make a BETTER difference in the world instead of causing more arguments and controversies... (not to say there aren't intelligent people in the government, but not all of them are.)
