I recently inherited a bunch of cacti. What is the easiest way to care for them. How often do I water, do I fertilize. Inside or out. I know nothing about cactus other than you best be careful when you handle them because they bite.

If you transplant any of the cactus to another pot, make sure you always use cactus soil. The best pot to use for a cactus is one that is porous like a regular clay pot or something that is not glazed inside and out. EXPERT is my favorite cactus soil. SHULTZ makes liquid cactus fertilizer and I probably use that every other watering. They seem to really benefit from the fertilizer and one small bottle lasts for years. Only water them when the soil is completely dried out, and then give them a good thorough watering. It may take a month or more between watering's. Put them in a sunny location in the house. They like the direct sunlight. I live in zone six and I leave my cactus in the house year round. I don't know how they would be with the humidity outside. So far I have 12 and they get bigger and bigger all the time. I have had them for 6-7 years. I hope this helped. Good luck with your prickly new friends!

Most cactus require southern exposure inside & at least 1/2 day
or direct sun outside. Preferably not afternoon sun. They prefer
very little water. Inside, maybe once every 2 wks. Outside (I assume these are in pots?) about once a week. Only fertilize
once a year with bonemeal.

Put them in full sun, water barely ever, and leave them alone. Get the point? Dont fertilize, use sandy soil and dont use Miracle Gro because cacti hate chemicals.
