You got it. It's stereotypes and labels.
And the fact that it is much easier to attack a person or a side than to actually engage in rational dialog or intellectual debate on the merits of an issue.
If people can score cheap points by making a purely emotional and shallow argument, and get elected purely on that basis, they have no incentive to actually address the underlying issues.
It's sad that both ends of the spectrum has so many people more determined to continue the fight than to resolve the problems.

I agree that most Americans are good hearted and want whats best for the country or at least themselves. The problem I see is that some if not most people, including myself, only see the facts presented to them and make a judgement. If they were given more facts, they would realize not only was their previous judgement not good enough, that it would probably harm the US. And the situation is never that simple; there is always room for more facts.
Thats why we have politicians and analysists who put it together themselves and they probably have the best judgement. However, who is to say that they are the most informed. Hence, Congress/Judicial and Executive branches and democracy is, I think, a good idea because our decisions are not final. Our laws are made with the best interest and the Judicial system provides a check on them also. The wisest person knows he knows not everything.
So in the end, I think that its good we have so many political parties to debate out what is good for the country. It is easy to come up with an answer or go ahead without hesitation and the best system for that is probably a dictatorship: no arguement and always decisive. But even a dictator cannot take into account everything. The best we can do as citizens is be educated and informed through various newspapers and staying politically active.
I know I sound optimistic but that is the only thing I can do is have hope/faith in the system. ONce you lose faith, you're still going to be bound under the law that other people make for you. At that point, you wish you could have done something instead of just calling the system unfair.

Conservative people are as evil as religious extremist. They are just hiding behind a white dress but inside they are disgusting. They are people who want attention, and thats the reason they are so call conservative or liberals...same with vegetarians. They are the weakest group but they gain power together, but at the end, they always thrown to the garbage where they belong. It all start at school when they received their first rejections from the cool students. Remember they were never cool, they had always something to say like now. They are the REJECTS of Society. They go home and curse, hate, i make plans in how to eliminate what its so call enemy. Like the extremist. Sorry but they will be rejects. A Biker is more acceptable than a conservative liberal fool. That biker maybe is the most honest person in the world. Liberals live with HATE...religious plp too.

They aren't.
It's only on places like this "forum", the so-called "news" outlets, and in the political arena that you see this behavior exhibited. It's a sport to the participants and they engage each other with vigor!
Most folks are quite content with others having opinions different than their own. Intelligent people find it incredibly boring to hang with people who think just like they do.

They are dorks! I notice Liberals are much more laid back and Conservatives tend to be alot more stuffy. I fall in between on most issues and create a balance.

I dont recognize if its prejudice, yet its absolutely lack of understanding. human beings use "liberal or conservative" as if they're undesirable words. Its ridiculous. those those who try this merely refuse to work out others factors of view, in case you dont see it their way, then there is something incorrect with you.

Its human nature to believe you're right, they're wrong, and that's that. People are going to argue like there's no tomorrow when faced with someone who has a different view point than they do, because they believe THEY are right, and no one else is.
