Since yesterday, Felix was having trouble moving. he still had some energy, and would wander a little. but today he's hardly moving and won't eat. He is having trouble with his back legs and seems just wants to be left alone. He was fine the other day and getting into trouble as usual. I don't know what is wrong. and can not get him to the vet until next monday. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow to see if I can get credit. but I'm looking for someone to help, and give me some ideas on what i can do until then. does anyone know what could be the problem?

Hindleg weakness is always a serious sign of trouble in ferrets. You need to get him seen sooner than a week from now.
It could be a neurological problem or an injury, but one of the most common ferret problems, INSULINOMA, can present hind leg weakness as well. So can adrenal disease. Those are the more common problems in ferrets. Of course it could be a sign of some sort of toxicity. Could he have gotten into something? Is the weakness most prevalent when he first wakes up?
Try to get him to eat something, try baby food(turkey or chicken) and let him eat it off your finger. Please get him seen.
PS: I'm not saying that it isn' t PARVO, but there are other more probable causes you have to worry about.

She could possibly be Bipolar. I would go see a phycologist immediatly because if you don't get this problem solved when they're younger then they'll lead the same life in 10, 20, 30 years. We can't always control our mental thoughts and actions. The mind is a very powerful thing. And since she is so young she may not even think anything is wrong with what she's doing. Oh and before seeing a phycologist I would see a pediatrition first. Good luck and I'm sure that you are a wonderful parent :)

Im so sorry. It really sucks when money is the issue. On the other hand, you really need to get Felix to the vet before next Monday. There are a few things that could be going on, none of them good. If its an Insulinoma,(very common ferret problem) without treatment the little guy could die.

I know exactly how to help you. I had a ferret with the exact same issues. He was the sweetest baby ever. Ferrets have an extreme digestive track. Depending on how old the ferret is, he/she can have Irregular bowel disease, this is fatal. What you can do is feed them stage 2 gerber chicken with chicken gravy baby food heated to lukewarm temp. You should also give him a vitamin supplement called Ferretvite or Ferretone (you can buy it at and your petstore) You should see a vet who will probably prescribe amoxycillin. Ferrets need a lot of attention and love. You can prolong his life and enjoy it, but beware IBS in ferrets is incurable and eventually fatal.

my dog had a this thing called parvo and he did the same things as your ferret. i dont know if ferrets can get it or not though. just to let you know almost every animal that gets it dies mine didnt but he almost did. the doc said we got him there just in time. so since yours just started a few days ago he might be able to make it through it. take him to the vet ASAP...

I don't want to alarm you, but leah_j suggested Parvo. I'm not sure if ferrets can get Parvo as it's been years since I've had ferrets, but I do know they can get Distemper and ferrets are supposed to be vaccinated against Distemper and Rabies at least. Again, I would google it and see if ferrets can get Parvo and if they are supposed to be vaccinated against this as well.
