In My Computer, right click the CD you trying to burn. Look into property and you should see "format". To change anything always right click the icon in my computer.

Insert it into the burner. Right click on the drive letter in My Computer, and there should be an option there to format. If there is not, you might not have a CD-RW drive. Your drive might just be a CD-R. Which means you can't erase it.

just delete all the stuff off it

use nero and it will format it for you
