I am outgoing and friendly, but have few close friends to help. I am not in to church. Single women seem scarce or unavailable. Any specific advice, especially on patience vs. proactiveness, would be appreciated.

It takes time, especially for us shy guys! You just have to force yourself to go out there and get involved in social activities! The internet is a great site for helping people get together too. Start as pen pals if you wish. Patience helps there too. You are not going to meet "Ms. Right" overnight on the web! It took me a while but I'm in a happy new relationship now. Don't mope...don't feel sorry for yourself...be active and yet patient...nothing wrong with masturbation and fantasy until you get something going. Good luck!
