If you get an infant seat with the base that you seat belt in and all you do is lift a lever and pull them out it shouldn't be a big deal. Not anymore difficult then an adult getting in and out.

We have a 6 year old, a 3 week old and a 2 door 4 seater mercury cougar, and dear god it's hard to get all of us in and out of that thing. (It's also very low to the ground, so it was loads of fun when I was 9 months pregnant too.) but when money's tight you do what you have to do. look at it this way -- these small cars are cheaper on gas, and it beats walking -- and try riding the bus with an infant in a stroller. Ugh! make the best of it for now, and look into a trade in when you can. good luck and best wishes.

I can beat that one! With my first son, we had a Honda Civic hatchback. UGH! Plus, he was a biiiig baby, and the older he got, the heavier he got and the more difficult it became to get him in and out. We eventually ended up buying a sedan. We cut costs here and there and did away with things so we could afford the second car payment (we kept the Honda because we owed more at the time than it was worth, and wouldn't have gotten a good trade in on it). Plus, we figured he was quickly out growing his infant car seat, and I can't begin to imagine what it would have been like to lift him in and out of a regular one. Nearly impossible! I think it can be done, but not without wrenching your back out!

I have a 10 week old(as well as a 6 year old) and we have a 2 door cavalier. Best bet is to get a car seat that has a base that stays in the car. And you can just pop it in and out. Because if I had to get in there and buckle the seat in every time, I'd never leave the house! I got one of the travel systems, and the car seat came with the base, as well as a stroller.

In my car I put the base in the middle of the backseat. My car is a Grand Am, we don't plan on getting a new car anytime soon, as we can't afford one right now.
It's definately do-able.
I use to be a nanny and use to have 2 carseats in the back seat of my Firebird, they didn't have the car seats with the bases so had to bucket and unbucket constantly the infant from his seat.
Congrats

I babysit younger family members and I have a two door Honda civic. Its tough to get them in there and out. But keep going at it. maybe one day ask your husband to watch the baby and take the baby seat out there and fool around with the seat to try to find the best and faster ways to get the baby in the car and out.

If you can't afford to get a 4 door right now, just keep doing your thing. It is a total pain in the butt, but you will get through it. Keep working with it until you find the most convenient way. Good luck!

As with any two door vehicle, it is a little harder to get a baby in and out. However it is do able. I knew someone who had a two door and had a baby. It took a little extra time but overall it wasnt too difficult.

My parents did when they had me. If your middle seat has a seat belt anchor it will make it a lot easier. Also, my mom found fastening it on the passenger side when she was driving or drivers side when there was a passenger made it easier. With one kid it worked out okay, however when my sister came along they had no choice but to get a 4 door.
