I would like to know some good plants, trees, and shrubs for containers, I am in zone 6.?

I love to garden but am limited as to where I can grow these. I have two (2) 20ft x 24ft decks on which to garden. I am looking for ideas to beautify, and shade. Any suggestions?

Shade is hard for containers! The trees need to be BIG! I would recommend this. Why not build a trellace going over with a little "roof". Then put window boxes at the base and grow vines up it.

In general for containers figure you need to look for plants that are OK 1-2 zones further north, since the roots will have less winter protection.
