I've been on the DepoProvera shot for a few years now. I want to get pregnant probably 2 years from now ... any experiences on how long it takes to conceive after being off of this medication? I am about to switch to a regular pill, a lower dose kind, but does anyone have advice/experience with this?

Depo can take up to 18-24 months to even get out of your system and you could still have trouble after that. but switching to a pill is an excellent idea. I did a round of them after my Depo so that I could get pregnant again

I suggest that you get off of the depo shot right now!! It ususally takes a few years after the last shot to get pregnant. But every girl is different. As for switching to the pill right after... I wouldn't do it becuz the shot is still in your system. But that is my opinion. Ask a doctor about switching birth control... ask of the effects it might have on trying to conceive in a few years. He might be able to help you more there. I have listed a site below that will give you more information about the depo provera shot and of trying to conceive. I found the information very useful. Good luck!!

She pronounced She have been given the shot and it lasts for a undeniable quantity of months, now she is approximately 2 months pregnant. So, i assume that solutions your question. Use a backup, barrier or swap to the pill. Oh, and depo has been person-friendly to reason ovarian cysts in some women.

I was on the Depo shot for three years. I got off because I wanted to have another child, it took me over a year to get pregnant. I think it's an individual thing, depending on the woman.

After you have gone through that who purge bleed (1 week of bleeding for every shot you have had- or so I have heard) and get back into a normal rhythym, then you are elligable for pregnancy. So you will probably need some other form of birth control; Ortho tricycline has a low dose version, it didn't correct my cycle but that doesn't mean it won't work for you.
