I use a half inch chisel, which digs the roots up without it breaking. Then put a few grass seeds in the hole you have made and stamp on it. I find it therapy dealing with the mothers.

I think the generally accepted remedy is to go to a grden centre and buy somehting to "weed and feed" your lawn. There are chemicals which encourage grass to grow, but kill all weeds in grass. I have used it successfully for years. You put it on with a watering can.

Go to the garden center and get a dandelion digger. Most care them. In the fall you can do a weed'n' feed.

What you need is a translocated herbicide
basically a glyphosate based weed killer which biodegrades quickly too
therefore not damaging to the enviroment
Only apply it with a very small brush as it will kill anything green it touches
good luck

it's a long process, but not worse than digging....
go to a feed supply store and buy a large syringe.. Put your weed killer in the syringe and inject into the center of each dandylion plant. Worked for me!

Why would you want to kill such lovely flowers? Just pick the heads and overnight them to me... Nothing finer than dandelion wine
