they are fashionable. it's neat to see an unexpected twinkle near someone's foot, and not many people wear them so they are a good fashion statement. also, they don't get caught on things and jangle around like bracelets.

Because knee highs are the worst fashion in the world. They shorten a person's leg and make them look dorky. Anklets show more leg or help to hide cankles somewhat. However, the booty socks that are hidden down in the shoe, but cover the foot show even more cankle.
Socks are worn to catch the sweat of feet. They help to prevent athlete's foot if worn properly. Some women think that anklets make them look good while others prefer them over knee highs.
It is simply a matter of preference.

Same reason they wear any other kind of jewelry, because they like it and want to. I wear anklets often in the summer.

They show off a slender, well-formed ankle and then lead the eye higher up to a pair of long, slender, well-shaped legs. Or else down, to a pair of exclusively delightful designer sandals. That's why women with swollen or thick ankles never wear them..

I'm not sure why they were them but i would never wear one, my mum told me anklets are worn by tarts who are only after one thing.

You could ask the same question for bracelets, earings, necklaces, rings or bindis. It's an accessory for some, a real piece of jewelry for others, or even a tradition.

Cause anklets are very sexy and very eye catching, it draws attention to their ankles show them off.
I find them very sexy on a woman.

They do it for SHOW,it makes them feel that they are in style and makes them feel young....Most of the women that wear them have their toes done and wear sandles.....Its sorta like a tatoo that you can take off,when the fad dies down.....I know cause i wear one,however it really don,t add anything to me ........thats the real truth .....slickcut
