nothing refurbished and $1000 or under. (preferably under). And with a good memory, a drive that reads and writes CDs and DVDs, USB port and something that I can play my games on. Widows XP. Also where can I get Wi-fi? and how much does it usually cost?

It is my pleasure to answer a question that our leader "Sean I.T ©" has already answered.

While I agree mostly with our fearless leader Sean, I only agree with Toshiba. Basically, DELL Laptops suck. They are poorly made mechanically and are unreliable. Their tech support is a well known LOSER.

But Sean and I agree about Toshiba. They are well built, well priced, and have many models to suit the needs on anybody. Their tech support is AWESOME.

Most models have exactly what you need and more. Just look at the one that is currently displayed at your local STAPLES store. Or check out the Costco store. These are both fine retailers that will be happy to see you, if you have to bring it back. Stores and websites that give you a hassle on returns, really suck... SO ASK about thier return policy.

Good luck.

well it depends wat u get on it.....well i say get a dell becuse u can costumize ur laptop and dell offers alot. don't get a gateway they charge u way too much and dell has a good costomer services reps and easy to use. well some laptops are alrdy equpt wti a Wi-fi. but u might need a Wi-fi router and that won't cost that much maybe from 70$ to 120$........and NEVER get a HP it might sound good at first but HP fills up ur computer wit unwanted programs like that thing where it repairs problems at first its all good then it just becomes a hassle that program makes it look all hard for the simples problem like repairin a virus duh just delete that dam file.....soo go wit the dell

I truly recommend going to http://www.dell.com or http://www.toshiba.com for a laptop. You should get one that is approximately $500 basic price, and then customize it. Make sure you get XP Pro, at least 1 gig of memory upgrade, and a DVD R/W drive. Also, make sure the graphics card is up to date. I think you can get a pretty good laptop for $1,000 as long as you do smart-customizing.

Most laptops right now already come with WIFI and they will state that in their technical spec. If you need more help with it, then just contact me and I can help you customize your very own laptop. =)
