Why do liberals in general hate religion? I am a conservative but have no religious affiliation. I do not attend churchso pretty much probably going to hell, BUT, I do not have aproblem with religous people as long as they dont push it on me. I am not offended by a cross at school or in the town center. Im not offended by my kids learning about Christ or anyone else for that matter but I am offended by people who are offended by the word God. Are liberal lives that empty that they need to go after things like that? I just dont get it. Why are most liberals more concerned with this than helping the so called poor that they claim to care about?

Almost all Religion is structured, holds the individual accountable....fosters a sense of duty and responsibility for ones self, people, and society as a whole in the service of a God.

That philosophy all by itself puts liberals at odds with religion and/or God. Liberals refuse to be accountable to anyone but their own desires, choices, wants, rules for living, etc.

Even if they do admit or profess to believing in God, it is entirely on their own terms and not in accordance with whichever religion they finally decide upon when "shopping," for a religion that suits their lifestyle choices.

The founding fathers were the ones who wanted to leave religion out of government. Funny how right-wingers think they were "wrong" about religion and "right" about the right to bear arms.
Christ was an actual living person who had a huge historical impact on the world, so there's no problem with learning about him in school. If you try to teach that he rose from the grave, that he walked on on water, that he could make fish fall from the sky, (i.e. things that there are no historical records of and are therefore faith-based beliefs) then you're pushing a particular religion, which is against the constitution.
But hey, whatever Ann Coulter says must be true, right?

If they hate Jesus/God, why do they love that "green piece of paper" that says "In God we Trust" (The $ bill). They only like what's convenient for them. I grew up in public school and I learned Psalm 23 (The Lord is my shepherd) in school. We would read it every morning before class started. This is why the world is going in the direction it is. No one respects anybody or anything any more. But I'm old school and no one is going to take away my believes. Oh! and if you feel the same way I do, forget about "Happy Holidays", it is and will always be "Merry Christmas".

I'm a Liberal and my parents(believe me they are true Blue Liberals) never MADE me have a religion but I explore the different religions out there (my Liberal parents are NOT offended by this) and I think they all have the same underlying message...treat others as you want to be treated. They all have a good underlying message and I think all religions are GREAT as long as they don't try to shove ideals down my throat.

Besides religion is a good thing.. it keeps my macho, daredevil surfer girl attitude in check.

Religion creates an "us -vs- them" attitude.
You prove that.

I'm not offended by crosses.
I'm not offended if my children learn about Christianity, as long as it's not forced upon them. I would gladly allow my kids to study the bible if they wanted to. It should not be forced in school, though.

I'm not offended by others who don't like the word "God".
It's not my place to be worried about others' religous beliefs.
It's none of my business.

You, on the other hand, seem to want to make it your business, and it's just not.

I am a Liberal and I have a full, meaningful life, and I don't go after people who are against God or Jesus. Again, it's none of my business......but it seems to be yours.

That's the difference between the two of us.
Your nose is into everyone else's business.
Mine is at the local Homeless Shelter on Saturdays to feed and clothe the poor, whom I care deeply about.

I don't think they actually hate Jesus or God, it's the fact that they do not believe that law should mirror religion. As a good example, democrats are historically pro-choice whereas mothers are given the option to abortion. Republicans on the other hand are pro-life because it reflects that humans should not be allowed to control life or death (of the unborn child) - just God.

Statistically speaking, a similar percent of liberals are Christians as conservatives. Right-wing pundits tell you that liberals are God-hating devil worshippers to incite Christians to hate or be afraid of liberalism. It's propaganda, through and through. In fact, if you ever actually read the bible, you will realize that Jesus is very liberal...He speaks consistently of taking care of the poor, paying taxes, helping everyone be healed, forgiving debt, not being judgemental, loving everyone without condition (killing people is not loving them), and not being afraid (the statement that Jesus says most in the bible is "be not afraid").

Conservatives believe in creating more poverty, taking away programs that help the poor, fighting universal health care (making it so that the poor can not see doctors without going into extreme debt), and abolishing bankruptcy protection (only corporations may go bankrupt now). They consistently tell you to be afraid, to hate people, and that killing is good. Conservatives believe that they can control who lives and who dies in the world, except for (at least they say...) unborn children. But think about it for a second here...Republicans have, for the last 5 years, controlled the White House, The Judiciary Branch, both houses of Congress, and Republican supporters own all 5 of the media conglomerations that together control 97% of all media in this country. If they really wanted to get rid of abortion, they could have at any time in the last 5 years, and there would be nothing that Liberals could do about it! They haven't because if they did, they wouldn't have a driving force in politics! If abortion was illegal, they couldn't tell you "Don't vote for democrats! They want abortion!".

Liberals do, however, believe that everyone should have a right to one's own religion or belief system, and try to keep public places free of all religious icons, so as to not push one religion on people. If there is a cross or ten commandments in a public place (non-church), then there should also be Vedic scriptures, buddhist, pagan, islamic, and other religious symbols as well, to represent the fact that in The United States of America, all religions and beliefs are alowed.

If Christian beliefs are taught in schools, other belief systems should be taught as well.

I am an ordained minister, and former pastor of a church. But in this country, everyone is free to believe the way they choose. How can someone be saved if the decision is not theirs to make? if someone is forced to be christian by lack of any other possibilities, they did not really make a choice to follow God.

Jesus never said "Go out into all the world and force them at gunpoint to believe in me"! He said "Go out into all the world and share the good news that you have learned".

I dont believe for a minute that most liberals hate Jesus/God. I think they want separtation of church and state. I am not offended by the cross or regular church goers, but I dont want religion forced on me either. I believe in God, but I do not trust organized religions.(churches) Oh and you arent going to Hell just because you dont go to church. I dont think that religions should be taught in schools unless it's as an elective. Crosses should remain where they belong. Around your neck or in front of or on top of a church.

Liberals hate everything that prohibits their PC beliefs. They also believe that religion is disproved by science, and covet money donated to religion for government use.

They try too keep religious people from being employed in government, education, and science.

They throw away eternal life to have fun now.

That's a interesting stretch.

AFAIK Jesus was the greatest liberal of all times.

You know all the basic heal the sick kind of stuff.

But if your talking about the New Red Jesus that is the founder of the new Right. Then I can understand the question.

Red Jesus like Bill Frisk owns a HMO he does not heal people he sell medical insurance. I meet his at a Redpublican Fundraiser.

Go big Red Go
