If he and you don't do it now, then, WHEN?

Learn to drive the damned camper.
Load some clothes for both of you. Supplies. Cook some of his favorites.
Then one night, TELL him that you are leaving in the morning, with or without him.

Don't miss a day. Don't wait. I've seen so many say, "Tomorrow. Next week. Next month. Next year."

When I retired, my late wife and Idecided and did travel in an RV. One day, it had a minor problem At the dealer for repair, she looked at a new rig. We bought it. Had another wonderful year. Made plans for Alaska in June 1999. She died suddenly, Nov. 1998. The rig had 20,000 mile son it. Never got there.
So what? If I knew she would be gone in a year, I'd do it all over again. It was worth every penny spent.

Go, go, go now. While you can.
There are somethings in life that we can only enjoy once. We can never go back for a second helping.

So much to see in America, Canada, Mexico. So many wonderful people to meet while camping.

I had a friend who saw 3 of his friends go, in less than a year, his age. He said to me, "What the hell am I working for? I'm going to live while I can." He took an RV to Alaska.

I'm alone now. No fun anymore. But no regrets either.

Print this and give it to your husband.
Just do it.

The camper was a test, a chance to explore the unknown, so go out and sleep in it. You make use of it, while it sits where it is. If you like it, bring him into it for one night, he is just unsure about the idea, so coax him out. You have the camper so you can sleep at night along side of the road. So practice making breakfast in it. There are a lot of places you can travel to driving just in the day because you are that much closer the next day. The idea was sound, now take the first step.

Your husband seems a workaholic, he obviously enjoys farming and hard work, maybe he feels tied to the land like he cant trust anyone else to run it? Maybe you could suggest holidays? Maybe the camper was good intentions - or to pacify you at the time? Perhaps you could go visit friends, in between your holidays with your husband as I know you really want to spend time with him and enjoy each others company, hes definitely become a man of the land and into discipline. Maybe it keeps him healthy and fit, and he enjoys the outdoor life and the freedom it brings being his own boss, maybe hes worried about becoming less mobile if he gives up the work that keeps him healthy? You wont change him.maybe its been a lifelong dream for him and now after all the years of hard work hes living his dream.

Honey, if it's the "family" farm, that means farming is been in his life since he can remember. It defines him and who he is. If you have children, discuss one of them taking over the farm for a week at a time. Or if you husband is still reluctant, start out a weekend at a time. This is something he is going to have to be eased into. Working hard is all he knows and ending that is like admitting defeat to "old age". It's going to take baby steps, but he'll come around after a taste of freedom on the road. Word of advice....do make sure your weekend travel is more than six hours away, or he'll be tempted on returning just to "check" on things. I've grown up in the country and I've seen this time and time again. Farmers, although very good natured and fun loving, are very very stubborn and set in their ways. But then, you already know this. Remember the key is to start off in small trips! Good luck and happy traveling!

Take a trip with some female friends or relatives and let him stay home. I have traveled with my daughter or with friends for short trips without my husband. I'm 59. I have a friend my age whose husband never goes anywhere, even to visit his son, who is her stepson. Her husband has no health problems. She and a friend drove 1000 miles to see the stepson and brought him things for his new home from their basement in a U-Haul. Later she traveled by herself to see the grandchild when she was born. Some people just don't like to travel. The farm is just an excuse. Make your plans and go without him. Life is too short to miss out.

You should be very proud of your Husband.
maybe he thinks the two of you are not in good enough health to travel, this should be between you and your Husband, listening to others is asking for trouble, no one else knows what is best for you, I hope the both of you will be very happy with whatever you decide.
Best of Luck.

If he won't go check out senior groups in your area and you go. Once you are dead you are dead and can't travel so don't miss out on it because of him
