drilling a well?

IS ther any way to drill a well in north Florida without any special equiptment to buy? wouldnt it just make sense to be able to smash a pvc pipe straight down into the ground?

Use hydraulic pressure.Take a piece of 1/2 inch pipe and put a hard tip on it (for clay) attach the other end to a hose and wash down.The water pressure will wash out the dirt(soft clays) and when you feel the pipe drop as if it hit a hole you are in water sand(usualy at 20 to 50 feet).Pull up the "drill pipe" and go to a larger size(2") and repeat.Leave the 2" pipe in the ground as caseing.Get a jet pump and educer set up and pump the hell out of it (the water will be muddy but eventialy clear up.Deep Rock (of Arkansas)has been selling small rigs(for tougher strata) for years that do just that

it is illegal to drill a water well without a permit how ever in some states not sure about florida you can get a permit to drill your own well if you own your own property. driving a pipe in the ground will not work as the reason is although you may get some wter it will only be surface water and unsafe to use except for livestock. to reach the water table you have to pnetrate the bed rock stata that can be any where from 5 to 30 feet thick and very very hard this is the rock you have to set your casing in to prevent surface water from getting into no way are you going to drive pipe through this. if you have plans to drill more than 1 well then you might look into getting a rig of some sort they are many and sometime not all that pricey other wise better call a contractor.

I have done several wells in Michigan, but Florida presents problems, depth to water, and Coral- if its not to deep, Make a Tri pod with long 2x4's 3 of them, put a Pully at the top, you will now need a driver, another larger pipe that slips over the Well pipe, with a Weight in it, pull it up with a rope in the pully, drop it, do it again and again- it goes about 1/4 to one inch, more if your lucky. Use 1 1/4 pipe in 5 foot section, and use a Drive Cap on the top to beat on, start by augging a hole to get started, and put a Drive Screen on the end of the starter pipe.

I believe Florida requires wells to be lined. Plus, if you just put a pipe down, the end of the pipe would end up getting clogged with grit and the well would stop producing. Hire a well driller to install a proper well.

you could use hand auger if the soil is Sandy or clayey silt. the hand auger is a spatial hand tool that you can drill up to 10 -15 ft deep.showing the PVC pipe in to the soil would not do the job. after you dig enough you can place a hand sawed pvc pipe wrap ed with the textile to prevent clogging

shallow well is pretty easy....metal casing, can rent a well hammer....( the hammer sets on top of the pipe adn u lift it up and let it drop and it drives it down......u have to use 5 ft ppipe tho)

Don't think that would work. The pvc would break and shatter before reaching the water table.

IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRILL YOUR OWN WELL. YOU NEED TO A REGISTERED DRILLER TO DO THIS.THERE IS ALOT MORE TO IT THAN "SMASHING" A PIECE OF PIPE INTO THE GROUND. LEAVE THIS JOB TO A PROFFESIONAL.
