no sweetheart its absolute crap, politicians should get a life and stop blaming icons for the demise of youth respect round the world,, the reason why people commit crimes is because they dont value their lives and think society has failed them,
i played with guns in my youth and i have never thought about harming anyone at any time, some people are unbalanced and would commit crime even if they never seen a pop concert or watched tv in their life,
help the young enjoy there youth ,make leisure affordable, free concerts for all,and we would see a difference,,its not fair that some kids with good loving parents can not get to see the same things as others just because they are poor, you are only young once and govt has to start helping our young enjoy themselves,, there is pleny of time for getting old and paying taxes,,maybe thats the answer no tax for the under 23 year olds,,lol
happy living

No, it's not right.
If children were brought up in homes where parents taught their children what is right and wrong, rather than leaving it up to the school, the media and the entertainment industry, then we'd probably have less violence. Then again, every person is accountable for their own actions. Unfortunately, in todays society personal accountability is becoming obsolete. Someone is always blaming someone else for their actions.
What is free will, if no one is is accountable for what they do?
There is a lot more violence allowed on TV, in songs and in games than there was 20 years ago. Limiting a childs viewing of violence at influential ages is a parents responsibility. If these moral fibers aren't invested at a young age, then kids will act out.
So, who do we blame - the parents or the child? Once a child is old enough to understand what is right and wrong, shouldn't the burden of responsibility lie on their shoulders?
Kids are often rash and act before they think, that is why it is up to others to watch for 'inappropriate' behaviors. So, is it societies fault? The school for not keeping a closer eye on the kids and looking for delinquent behavior.
There are so many factors involved in kids committing violent crimes, but in the end I believe the fault lies closer to home, rather than with the world at large. I can't help but feel that if there was more love, care and time invested with kids at home then there would be less violence.
How many hours per day does a child spend with their parents once they start school? Home cooked dinners with everyone siting at the table are becoming obsolete.

No, I think it is ridiculous for people to blame things, that are only meant for entertainment, for their own screw ups. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. I listen to Eminem and sometimes Marilyn Manson, and I haven't found anything either one of them says that makes me want to kill anyone. People need to stop blaming other people for their own crazy actions. They do these things thinking they can get away with it because of the content of music and movies. Come on now, if that was the case everyone who listens to the radio and watches movies would be mass murderers by now. Some parents want to say their child is a good kid and would have never done that if they hadn't heard that song, they just don't want to face the fact that maybe their kid was just screwed up to begin with.

Those criminal children are to blame, when everyone is watching the same shows. If their excuse for their criminal behavior is to be believed, then the fact that they didn't learn how to jump off a bridge like Wily Coyote will forever be a mystery to the rest of us. It seems there were a lot of selective learning going on for these kids. Parents who can't keep their guns locked up should be blamed as well. If you give your gun to a monkey, you are responsible for your monkey's actions.

Number one, the parents. The kids would not have been open to so many bad influences if the parents had been there for them and passed on good values.
It's not the job of the entertainment industry to take over raising the next generation!

i don't think the lyrics to some songs help matters, but i don't think its right to blame them. some blame goes towards parents but it also on the child themselves. maybe the teasing was too much or maybe if noticed sooner, medication or therapy would have helped. so that i don't get my *** jumped, some parents really do try with their children but there are just some punks who are beyond help or just don't want it. who knows.

no its not right, media can in persuasive.. yes... but i think its is the one who does its fault...
and the parents(not to put any blame on them... ) could have helped... i mean, some of these kids are making drugs bombs weapons right in thier rooms and thier parents don't know about it....
and they put ratings on videos games and movie for a reason;.... kids brains aren't able to handle all the violence and sexual material.... so parents should control what thier kids watch and play
