I think it encourages people to forget the true meaning of Christmas & reduces it to a race to see who can spend the most earliest in the year. I will be doing my Christmas shopping in the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas as usual.

Christmas already !!!!!I just think it makes Christmas seem more materialistic then anything else and it just goes to show that that the harrods owner is just a greedy fat cat who can only see £££££$$$$$$$ in front of his eyes now if he offered to give all takings from the christmas dept to charity (WHICH HE CAN WELL AFFORD TO) then maybe he would get some good publicity
take care:)

I think they're only doing it for free publicity. They know that the media will have a field day with it and advertise their store for them (Al Fayed's a Muslim, so he doesn't give a toss about Christmas, does he? He only wants to make sick amounts of money, as if he needs it!).
I'm hearing ads on the radio now for Christmas parties. It's getting earlier and earlier every year. People spend more money at Christmas than the rest of the year put together, no wonder they can't wait to rip us off! Where will it all end?

Same thing happens here in the states. It used to be that the Xmas stuff came out in November. Now it starts right after the back to school displays come down.

Christmas has became so commercialized. I think that the retailers shouldn't put anything out until the day after Thanksgiving. All of the Christmas merchandise should be off of the sales floor no later than January 2. I love Christmas. I hate all of the commercialism.

its the season to be jolly ,let us have all your lolly..tralla la la la.
its madness but when you have people like me and probably you,, buying more and more each year we are only encouraging them to take the p iss out of us,,
so who is the silly ones eh
i think we should have a national xmas strike and no-one buys any xmas presents until they bring down the prices,
xmas is for the families and to celebrate the birth of christianity and not to run up our credit cards,,get back to good old fashion values i say, when i was little i got an apple, orange, selection box and a ten bob note and i thought i was the richest person in the world,,maybe i was lol

I think it is diabolical. I personally start buying gifts early for xmas as can't afford to leave it til December, I would if I could. But I don't want to see it advertised, its not like the public are going to forget its Christmas.

I'm appalled - this just shows their greed and lack of respect for a meaningful holiday they are trying to exploit. I like to be well-organised in my Christmas shopping but don't think there is a need for any Christmas promotions before November.

Terrible - XMAS should start on Xmas eve and end on January 6th. 12 days of it is more than enough.
And as for hot cross buns being available all year round, bah, humbug!
