I do have the full complement of forks (spoons and knives, too) in my silverware drawer. And no, I don't use specific forks or other utensils to eat with. I use the same fork for my salad as I do for my steak and my peas & carrots. Sometimes I'll use it for dessert, too!
Unless I'm at a restaurant, in which case I'll use every piece of cutlery (in it's proper application) that's on the table. I'll even use the little spreader-thing to put pats of butter onto my bread plate, then I'll use a different knife to spread the butter on my roll.

I am a stickler for this and it does so irritate my husband.I use the salad forks and the dinner forks at a proper setting because I was raised on a farm with siblings that were morons , really ! throwing potatoes and all. So, when I have a meal I love to set the table with my Rodeo Pattern dishes and my Tao's southwestern silverware. My husband says " Now which fork can I use for this and that again". It is so cute because he never complains and loves the fact that I care to make a special setting for us. He said his favorite time is Christmas as I decorate our western family room with all the ornaments I have collected for 20 years and put a tree up in each room w/ a theme. Well, now you know I am a freak so I'm outta here! Adios.:)

It depends. When I eat only salad, then I use the salad fork. But when I eat salad with steaks or whatsoever, I just use the normal fork. I'm lazy to wash too much! ;-)
