Dear member,
I'm a straight man but my 2 cents is if you are really interested in this question you should try going to Bangkok, Thailand to see for yourself. I went one time as a child with my parents and there was a show and a whole stage of formerly men were gender changed to females and looked, talked very feminine. You cannot even tell the difference because by the end of the show I asked my parents and they said they "were" men in the past. I was very shocked.

It may have something to do with the fact that they add to Thailands tourist industries. If something is making a country money they're not going to say no to it.
