The standard location is my balcony, at night, between 11pm and 7am the next day (not in one stretch!), via an iPod, sitting on a rattan chair. It's very quiet, so I can hear every note really clearly.
Music is a useful mood-altering substance with no side-effects. What mood you want to achieve dictates what you listen to.
CREATIVE INSPIRATION: Strange, angular music with odd lyrics - Bowie's 'Berlin Trilogy' - 'Heroes', 'Low', 'Lodger', bits of 'Scary Monsters'; 'The Way Of The Vaselines' by a defunct Scottish group called The Vaselines; 'Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy' or 'Here Come The Warm Jets' by Brian Eno; 'The Sound Of Speed' by the Jesus & Mary Chain; '77' by Talking Heads; or densely layered stuff that makes no sense on first listen: 'Pangaea' by Miles Davis, some Indian or other world music percussion, some of Robert Fripp's guitar work.
STUFF THAT PUTS ME IN A GOOD MOOD: Nina Simone; Kanda Bongo Man (soukous); Ladysmith Black Mambazo's first album (not the later stuff); bits of zydeco; bits of They Might Be Giants; Tom Lehrer; Loudon Wainwright III; Jason & The Scorchers; Ry Cooder, Keb Mo, Chuck Berry, David Lindley, Adrian Belew, Fats Domino.
STUFF THAT PUTS ME IN A CALM MOOD: The Cowboy Junkies, Ray Charles, Joe Pass, Herbie Hancock.
It comes and goes in cycles, though, and I'll put some music aside for months before returning to it again.

Either on my ipod, lying on my bed thinking.
or in class to block out the teacher
or cruising around in a sweet car with music blaring.
I listen to alot of different stuff though, anything besides most rap, hip-hop, or country i cant stand. I hate those. I love mostly alternative and punk, bands that most people haven't heard of. Even some older stuff like the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton and stuff that my mom brought me up on. When I was younger we used to sing along to most of the songs in the car.

I'm a music fanatic and love to listen to it just about any where. My mood sets the tone for whatever I'm listening too and my taste is pretty eclectic. The best way for me to enjoy the tunes though, is after having a few hits of some killer maryjane and cranking the speakers up for the ultimate chill. Just groovy!!!

I love classic rock speeding down the highway alone. I love smooth jazz lounging on the couch or soaking in a candlelight bath. I love bluegrass live at an outdoor festival at night with a bonfire. I must have music to breathe. It is a solace to my soul.

I like to listen while I am on the computer, while I am cleaning, while I am driving, while I'm cooking. I am a musician and I like music almost all of the time! I can get lost in it. It takes me to a "higher plane". I like different types of music. I like classical, rock, alternative rock, and blues, mostly.
When I'm not listening, I like to play guitar. I just love music.

I like listening to music every time of the day...according to my feelings I choose to listen different kinds of music. For example when I am angry I listen to rock music...when I want to relax I listen to music without lyrics...like Yianni's music. Music is a part of my life even though I am not a musician or something like that!

Soooo many ways to enjoy music but one of my very favorite is while I'm out for a long walk (2 hours-ish). Any kind but best if it can keep up with me or make me go faster and further!

so depends, just chill with some jack johnson or the chili peppers, when its time to rock out throw on the offspring or rise against
"bad habit" by the offspring is the best driving song...be careful, your chances of getting in an accident probably triple when listening to that song
