It's well worth visiting. There is a lot of walking and you are not allowed to smoke in the caverns, but the scenery is incredible. Bring a camera and a tripod. The caverns are too large to light with a flash, but long exposures from a tripod work well. It's always cool in the caverns (as I recall, high 60's or low 70's), but walking through them is strenuous and will heat you up. Dress in layers and bring a bottle of Coke or water or something. I would not recommend eating in the caverns, but there are plenty of good restaurants within a 10-minute drive.

Used to live in Carlsbad as a kid and my uncle worked at the Caverns. Been there many times.

Be sure and walk down, eat lunch a mile underground in their little cafeteria area nd take the elevator back up. Try and walk back up and it will drain you.

I've been there, but it's been awhile. I don't really remember much about it. I really liked it though...I like most of the caverns that I've been to.

I was there twice back in 1992 and 1993. I was awesome. Make time for the twilight bat flight at the natural entrance.

Yes, twice. Pretty cool, lots of bats, but don't plan to eat in there the food sucks and it's expensive.
