What do Dragonflies eat, why do they swarm?

Adults eat small flying insects - one of their common names is Mosquito Hawks.
They "swarm" possibly because that area is rich in food, mates or egg laying sites.

1.Skeeters(hence the name skeeter hawk) 2.To feed and mate.
