Like on an iPod , when you turn it off or the battery dies the time is still correct days later. How can the clock keep time if there's no power for it?

There are internal batteries on the motherboard (computer) or the chipset (ipod) that keep the memory and the clock intact for a period of time until either external power or a battery is put back in place.

I believe they use a Tantalum Capacitor as a battery :)
