It all depends on the breeds. Like dogs, the smaller to medium ones live longer like 11-18 years. While bigger dogs end up with more back problems and such tend to live about 11-14 years. Most of our dogs lived to about 18 years old.
Cats most of them live between 9-15 years. But I don't think the breed would matter much with cats. Although in my opinion purebreed cats don't live as long as the mut cats do. Most of my cats have lived to about 20-24 years.
Hope this helped!!

From what I know of dogs the other posters are correct. The smaller the dog the greater possibility its life will be longer.
I have a 22 yr old cat. She eats well, tools around the garden every morning, loves to lie in the gentle morning sun and on the decks made warm by the sun in the afternoons when the decks are shaded. She has been stone deaf now for about six months. I bought some stairs so she can more readily get up on my bed at night. She sleeps near me there. I have no illusions she will be here too much longer. Her kidney numbers are atrocious! She is really pretty active in spite of severe arthritis. She doesn't seem that much less active than my other cats who are in their "teens"

Depends on the breed for dogs...for example a Great Dane may only live 7-9 years, while a Beagle can reach 15. The biggests factor is size and weight.
For cats their age can range from 13-16. Some shorter, some longer.

A big dog can live anywhere between 8 and 14 years, smaller dogs live longer. It depends on the breed and their health issues when they get older.
Cats live usually longer than dogs. I had a cat who lived to be 18 years old and another one lived to be 13 years old (no pure breeds). It also depends on the breed of the animals and the blood lines. Some can get really messed up. Never buy a dog or cat from a pet store or back yard breeder.

depends on the breed, a large dog could live for a really long time like maybe 20+ years. Small dogs like a Lhasa Apso, shizu, poodle, etc mainly could live up to 10-20( rare is 20; main is 15) years. But that is with out any incedents like sickness at old age, hit and runs with a car, etc. A cat lives as long as a small dog or maybe longer

The average life span of smaller dogs is about 12-15 years, for the bigger breeds, about 8-10 years. Cats have been known to live about 10-15 years.

The average lifespan of an outdoor or outdoor/indoor cat is 2-3 years. Indoor cat, 15 plus years. Dogs lifespan vary greatly on the breed, with larger breeds having shorter lives. (i.e., St. Bernards and Newfoundlands average about 9 years, with Chihuahuas, poodles, etc. averaging 15-16 years. Middle-sized dogs like hounds and labs average 12-14).

I believe dogs can live up at 15 years. Mine lived for 13. As for cats, I believe it's up to twenty to 25.
