Nobody has ever found a genetic reason, so it's a bit like asking, "Why do some people pick their nose?".
Here is what a respected academic, David Mullan, has to say about it:
"homosexuality is a repudiation of nature and the apotheosis of unbridled desire."
In other words, it is pretty much a personality disorder.
